Canterbury Club
2010

Armed with a notably strong bowling lineup but struggling on the batting front, LNZCC arrived at Diamond Harbour ground on what turned out to be a scorcher of a day (30 deg.). Eager to repeat last seasons success over the Canterbury Club and stem the tide of this years two previous defeats the team was confronted by a strong opposition of 1st and 2nd grade players selected by Hamish Anderson.
Loosing the top and being asked to field on a grassless flat newly laid cricket square that rained on the night before, the bowlers all without exception bowled line and length, rattling out the Canterbury Club for 147 in 36 overs. Best Simpson 3 for 9 of 4 overs, Gray, 2 for 17 of 5 overs Wolt 2 for 38 of 8 and Gale, 1 for 30 of 8.
Sadly our batting reply was woeful, against a equally strong and effective bowling attack, and a drying pitch. The side was skittled out for 65 with highest score going to Gale for 20 followed by extras.
However the day was hot the after-match beer and sausage sizzle and general hospitality put on by Diamond Harbour Club was greatly appreciated and we will be back next year with better batting side a much improved track.
